For a small club, we can always turn out a team!. We encourage anyone in the club who wishes to be part of a team to join. It doesn't matter as to what stage you are at with your riding, we have a brilliant network of team members who are encouraging, helpful, generous and very supportive alongside our fabulous team trainer Sue Edwards.
We have loved getting involved with Team Dressage competitions, having some great success at all levels competing against other BRC Area 12 teams. We even managed qualification to Hartpury SWWRC Championships in 2018 and 2019 and individual qualifications to the BRC National Championships in Lincolnshire in 2019.
We've had a great time with the eventing - both horse trials and arena based with team entries at 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 1m
These events have been very well supported by other club members coming along to cheer the team on. A brilliant atmosphere, some great riding by our members - now all donning their KRC club matching kit which looks fabulous. We have had some very good results with a brilliant recent run by Joey Hayes and Seamus who have qualified individually for the National Arena Eventing Championships next March at Aston-le-Walls.
Team Show Jumping has also been on the agenda over the last couple of years with teams travelling to Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre where they always run a well organised event.
This 'online' dressage has been a lifeline for the club since the Coronavirus Pandemic and has been a great outlet for encouraging members to keep riding, keep practicing and maybe win a rosette or two in the process. E-Riders is an online tournament where KRC members as a team can perform a dressage test at home, film it and submit online for judging by qualified judges. The beauty of E-dressage is that you don't have to travel to a show, you don't have to wear show kit - anything you like is acceptable and you don't have to 'show' prepare your horse. Great also if you suffer a bit of show nerves as this is in your own environment with just you and the person filming.
Something we do as a club really really well is celebrate!. We celebrate whether we WIN, Lose or come somewhere in the middle. We don't need an excuse to have a tipple and eat cake.................so when all is done, we all get together in the lorry park, chat about our performances good or bad, celebrate the fact we actually all got there and made a contribution and generally have a jolly old time before we load and leave. Then of course, we all post our photo's on Facebook and re-live the day again!
Being part of a KRC team has become almost legendary in the Club as an enormously fun thing to do, no matter what your level, your confidence or your experience. Therefore, alongside other BRC team events, we are looking at putting together a team (or two or three) to take part in British Dressage Team Quest competitions. Aimed at all levels from Intro to Novice, this is a great opportunity to have a bit of fun and get out and about with the support of others in the club.
